$4,500 Check Presented to Gabrielle’s Heart Camp

Summer Camp season has arrived and a very special summer camp has received a tremendous boost of support from Centreville Bank in recent weeks. Gabrielle’s Heart Camp will hold its fourth camp session beginning on August 13th for regional children facing congenital heart defects, heart disease, and severe feeding issues. A check for $4,500 was presented this spring to Louise Dinsmore, founder of the Gabrielle Dinsmore Heart & Hope Fund, which runs Gabrielle’s Heart Camp. This marks the second year the Bank has made a generous donation to the Camp.

“Centreville Bank is proud to support the community in many different ways,” said Raymond Bolster, President and CEO of Centreville Savings Bank. “With the Gabrielle Dinsmore Heart and Hope Fund, we were able to give a donation totaling $4,500 from the Centreville Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, the Bank and its employees.  It was a group effort to benefit a great cause.”

“We are deeply grateful to Centreville Bank for this very generous check to help us manage another successful camp season,” says Louise Dinsmore, founder of the Fund. “It means so much for these kids, who face difficult medical challenges, to be able to attend a Camp specially designed to meet their needs, and have a regular summer camp experience like thousands of other children have each summer.” The mission of the Camp is to provide an environment where youth with heart disease and congenital heart defects can have fun while learning life skills that will help them navigate the challenges of living with a cardiac condition.  The vision of Camp came from Dr. Lloyd Feit, the Director of the Pediatric Heart Center at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Feit approached Louise and Jeff Dinsmore, Gabrielle’s parents in 2010 with his dream of starting a camp from kids with CHD’s and heart disease.  The Dinsmore’s, having just lost their 2 – year old daughter, Gabrielle, turned personal tragedy into a positive mission, as they pledged to Dr. Feit, “consider it done”.

So far, 63 campers, ages 8 to 15 have registered for Gabrielle’s Heart Camp which is held at Cub World in Burrillville, RI.

Centreville Bank recently donated an additional $250 to the Camp, along with supplies for campers, including t-shirts, backpacks, and toiletries such as sun block, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.

The Gabrielle Dinsmore Heart and Hope Fund provides emotional, recreational, educational, and financial support to children and their families living in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
